Packing a Moving Day Essentials Box

January 30th, 2018 | Posted by Stephen in Uncategorized

We at Todds Removals Ltd suggest you pack an essentials box for moving day. It should be the last box on the removal lorry and the first box off and should contain all those items you will need on arrival at your new home. Remember it may be late by the time your items are unloaded from the lorry and the last thing you will want to be doing is opening lots of boxes and having to search through them all to find those essential items.

We suggest you pack the following items in your essentials box:-

Tea, coffee, sugar, milk, cups, spoons and the kettle
Soft drinks and snacks
Pet food and bowls
Toilet roll, soap and towel
Light bulbs
Small took kit
Pen and notebook
Mobile phone charger
Bin bags
Cleaning materials
First aid kit including headache medication
Local takeaway menus and phone numbers
Bottle of Champagne, glasses and corkscrew

Other items you will need on your first night/morning in your new house should all be packed in boxes and clearly labelled, these items may include:

Bedding – Duvets, sheets and pillows – leave the covers on when packing
Breakfast cereals, bowls and spoons

At Todds Removals Ltd we use either hanging boxes or wardrobe rails so all your clothes should reach you new home ready to wear and as long as your wardrobes are assembled our removal crew will even hang them for you.

We recommend you pack the following items and take them with you in your car:

Cheque books, bank cards, purses and wallets
Important paperwork relative to your house sale/purchase
Children’s favourite toy/comforter
Coat or Jumper

If you are moving a long distance you will also need to take with you food and drink supplies for the journey for you, your family and your pets. You may also want to pack an overnight bag for each member of the family in case there is a problem with access to your new home.

If you have the essentials then you can unpack the rest of the boxes at your leisure in an organised manner rather than having to open them all and empty half the contents out to find the one thing you need.
